Sony’s “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” has taken the top spot at the U.K. and Ireland box office, grossing £4 million ($5.1 million) and knocking Warner Bros.’ “Dune: Part II” out of first place after a three-week reign. “Dune: Part II” earned £2.6 million in its fourth weekend, bringing its total to £30.7 million. Black Bear’s “Immaculate” debuted in third place with £522,583, while Studiocanal’s “Wicked Little Letters” earned £373,505 in its fifth weekend, totaling £8.1 million. Universal’s “Migration” rounded off the top five with £370,464 in its eighth weekend, bringing its total to £19.5 million.

Two new releases entered the top 10, including Vertigo’s “Late Night With The Devil” in seventh place with £220,436 and Trafalgar’s “Romeo Et Juliette – Met Opera 2023/24” in tenth place with £81,880. With the Easter holidays approaching, a slew of new releases are hitting theaters. Some of the upcoming releases include Trafalgar Releasing’s music documentary “Hate To Love: Nickelback,” drama-thriller “Mother’s Instinct” starring Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway, Universal’s “Kung Fu Panda 4” with an ensemble cast, and Warner Bros.’ “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire.”

In addition to the mainstream releases, there is also a lineup of festival fare hitting theaters. Films like Anthony Chen’s “Drift,” Giacomo Abbruzzese’s “Disco Boy,” Sean Price Williams’ “The Sweet East,” and “Cidade Rabat” are among the festival titles being released. Modern Films is releasing “Opus” featuring Ryuichi Sakamoto, “The Origin of Evil,” “Silver Haze,” Trinity’s “We 12” with Hong Kong boy band Mirror, and the animation “Little Eggs: A Frozen Rescue” from Mirace/Dazzler.

Classic film enthusiasts can look forward to Studiocanal’s 4K restoration of “The Lavender Hill Mob” and Park Circus’ 60th anniversary re-release of “Mary Poppins.” With a diverse lineup of films hitting theaters, audiences have plenty of options to choose from during the upcoming week. The box office is expected to see more shifts in the top spots as new releases vie for audience attention and box office success.
