Florence Pugh recently shared a first look set video from the Atlanta studio where the Marvel movie “Thunderbolts” is currently in production. Pugh will reprise her role as the assassin Yelena Belova, which she first debuted in “Black Widow” and later in the Disney+ series “Hawkeye.” In the set video, Pugh gives a sneak peek at one of Yelena’s combat-ready suits in the film, along with sporting some blue eyeliner. Pugh revealed that she was whisked off to Atlanta to shoot the movie and hinted that she couldn’t reveal too much about the project.

Pugh showed some of the structures being built on the “Thunderbolts” set in the video and ran into director Jake Schreier. Schreier, known for directing films like “Robot and Frank” and “Paper Towns,” had directed music videos for various artists and episodes of TV shows like “Minx” and “The Premise.” Playfully, Schreier mentioned that Pugh shouldn’t be sharing behind-the-scenes footage. The video also gave a first official look at Yelena Belova armed and dangerous in the movie, raising excitement among fans.

While plot details for “Thunderbolts” are still under wraps, in the Marvel comics, the team is comprised of villains, anti-heroes, and reformed individuals, some of whom have already appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Alongside Pugh, the film will feature returning Marvel actors such as Sebastian Stan, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Harbour, and Olga Kurylenko. Newcomers to the MCU include Lewis Pullman and Geraldine Viswanathan. Lee Sung Jin has taken over writing duties from Eric Pearson for the film.

“Thunderbolts” is slated for release on May 2, 2025, as per Disney’s release calendar. Excitement is building for the film, especially after Pugh’s behind-the-scenes video teaser. Fans can expect an action-packed and intriguing storyline given the mix of characters from the Marvel universe involved in the project. Pugh’s return as Yelena Belova is highly anticipated, following her previous appearances in the franchise. With a talented ensemble cast and a promising director at the helm, “Thunderbolts” is shaping up to be another blockbuster hit for Marvel.
