BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – A 16-year-old from Bismarck has been arrested in connection with a murder at a motel in Bismarck early Friday morning.
The Bismarck Police Department said their investigation led detectives to Warren, Minn. The teenager was arrested by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department shortly after 7 a.m. in connection with the murder of Maurice Thunder Shield, 28, of McLaughlin S.D.
Officers responded to the Motel 6 around 12:40 a.m. for the report of an individual that was shot in the chest. When they arrived, they found Thunder Shield unresponsive from an apparent gunshot wound and witnesses performing CPR. Thunder Shield was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses, and other evidence led officers and detectives to believe that the 16-year-old shot Thunder Shield and left the scene.
