EDINA, Minn. – A police chase early Thursday ended at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina where police found a passenger in the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to Carver County Sheriff Jason Kamerud, officers discovered the 17-year-old victim was shot and taken to the hospital by friends.
“He had been transported [to the hospital] by his friends after having been shot at a residence in Chanhassen,” Kamerud said. “During the transport, Eden Prairie police attempted to make a traffic stop on the car.”
The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The suspected shooter is an 18-year-old woman who police believe was an acquaintance of the victim. She was arrested.
“They had just gotten to the residence when the gunshot happened, and the circumstances leading up to it are under investigation,” Kamerud said.
Neither a motive nor names have been released.
Kamerud said they do not believe the shooting was an accident.
