(KFGO/KNFL) Cherry shot 62% from the field as the Tigers defeated Border West 68-55 in the Minnesota State Class A Boys Basketball quarterfinals at Williams Arena.
Noah Sundquist scored 30 points on 14-15 from the field to lead all scorers. Border West focused on University of Minnesota recruit Isaac Asuma and held him to 11 points, as he worked around foul trouble much of the game.
Cherry led 34-28 at halftime. Border West cut the deficit to two points on multiple occasions in the second half, the last of which was 52-50. A 10-1 Cherry run late put the game away.
Clint Determan led Border West (26-3) with 19 points, and Dylan Bainbridge added 12 points. The Buccaneers face Nevis Thursday morning at 10:00 at Concordia-St. Paul.
