Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN)
ST. PAUL, Minn. – A coalition of soybean farmers, ethanol supporters and convenience stores is suing the Walz Administration over recently-adopted “clean cars” regulations that they say will hurt their business.
The lawsuit contends the state of Minnesota can’t regulate fuel economy above federal standards, even though an exception was granted for california.
Minnesota Soybean Growers Association President Bob Worth said he’s very concerned that the standards will lead to other actions that shrink demand for biodiesel.
Backers of the rules argue the state must do its part to confront climate change, and transitioning to electric vehicles will help significantly.
