ST. PAUL, Minn. – A man will spend over 12 years in federal prison for a violent carjacking outside a northeast Minneapolis bar last June.
According to court records, 19-year-old Shamir Black and another man demanded a woman’s car keys, pushed her to the ground, and hit her in the head with a gun.
When a bystander tried to help the victim, Black fired a shot toward that person.
Police said Black and his accomplice attempted to leave in the victim’s car before witnesses pulled Black from the driver’s seat. The two fled on foot.
Black was later arrested at his home.
Prosecutors said he pleaded guilty to that carjacking and two others in Golden Valley.
