ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota House is in favor of establishing a commission to develop, design, and recommend a new official state flag and seal.
Representative Mike Freiberg of Golden Valley says the current seal and flag show a white farmer behind a plow tilling the soil as he looks up to watch an Indian ride away on a horse.
Freiberg said, “Minnesota is a great state and we should have a great flag and a great seal, and we don’t right now.”
The proposal has not had a hearing in the Republican-controlled Senate.
