HASTINGS, Minn. – A teen from Bloomington accused of selling drugs that resulted in a fatal overdose will stand trial as an adult in Dakota County.
Prosecutors said the motion to certify 18-year-old Parker Benson as an adult has been granted.
Benson is charged with the third-degree murder of a 15-year-old girl in West St. Paul last April. He was 17 at the time of her death.
Investigators said they found a conversation on the victim’s phone in which Benson agreed to sell her four fentanyl pills for $60.
Benson’s next court hearing is April 13.
