VALLEY CITY, N.D. – With his resignation coming as a surprise, the Valley City Commission has approved the resignation of Police Chief Phil Hatcher.
Hatcher said he and his family reached the decision earlier this year.
“It’s been something that we have discussed for quite a while in my family,” Hatcher said. “We were finally able to get my third daughter graduated through school. So, the opportunity is here and it’s just time to look at new opportunities.”
The resignation is effective August 4. The search process for finding a new chief will begin immediately.
Hatcher has been police chief since late 2016.
