Lionsgate and Amazon Studios have announced a sequel to the 2018 film “A Simple Favor,” starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, with Paul Feig returning to direct. The movie is based on a 2017 novel of the same name and follows the story of a widowed single mother named Stephanie, played by Kendrick, who investigates the mysterious disappearance of her glamorous best friend Emily, played by Lively.

The upcoming sequel will take Stephanie and Emily to Capri, Italy, for Emily’s luxurious wedding to a rich Italian businessman. The film promises murder and betrayal amid the glamorous backdrop of the island. The original cast, including Henry Golding and Andrew Rannells, will reprise their roles. Production is set to begin in the spring, and the movie will be available to stream on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The first film was a commercial success, earning over $97 million worldwide. Anna Kendrick, known for her roles in movies like “Up in the Air” and the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, will make her directorial debut with the Netflix film “Woman of the Hour.” Blake Lively, who gained fame from “Gossip Girl” and has starred in films like “The Shallows” and “The Age of Adeline,” will star in the upcoming adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel “It Ends With Us” and will also make her directorial debut with an adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novel “Seconds.”

Paul Feig, who has directed hit films like “Bridesmaids” and “Spy,” recently directed the Netflix adaptation of “The School for Good And Evil” with Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington. The sequel to “A Simple Favor” promises to bring back the intrigue and excitement that made the original film a success, with more twists and turns in the story set against the stunning backdrop of Capri, Italy.
