Lionsgate and Amazon Studios have announced a sequel to the 2018 film “A Simple Favor,” starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, with Paul Feig returning to direct. The movie is based on a 2017 novel of the same name and follows the story of a widowed single mother named Stephanie, played by Kendrick, who investigates the mysterious disappearance of her glamorous best friend Emily, played by Lively.
The upcoming sequel will take Stephanie and Emily to Capri, Italy, for Emily’s luxurious wedding to a rich Italian businessman. The film promises murder and betrayal amid the glamorous backdrop of the island. The original cast, including Henry Golding and Andrew Rannells, will reprise their roles. Production is set to begin in the spring, and the movie will be available to stream on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The first film was a commercial success, earning over $97 million worldwide. Paul Feig, who has directed hit films like “Bridesmaids” and “Spy,” recently directed the Netflix adaptation of “The School for Good And Evil” with Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington.
