Britney Spears and Sam Asghari made light of the viral video that showed her having a so-called “meltdown” in the middle of a restaurant.
Using a cat filter, the pair filmed a video for Asghari’s Instagram Story late Tuesday in which they joked about Spears’ “pasta” being the “best part” of the couple’s headline-making night out.
“All right, the best thing about the TMZ video, to me personally — I’m starving — was the pasta,” Spears began. “What if I jumped from one table to the next in the video and I ate the pasta?
“Wouldn’t that be hot?” she asked before Asghari entered the frame and quipped, “Like a cat.”
“Yeah, I got what I wanted,” Spears said seductively.
Following the publication of the video — which didn’t actually show any sort of “manic” episode as reported and instead showed the pop star attempting to hide behind a menu as a fellow patron filmed her at Joey in Woodland Hills, Calif., on Friday night — Asghari implored fans on social media not to “believe what you read online.”
While a manager at Joey initially said they couldn’t comment on the activities of their diners, an employee later told Page Six exclusively that another customer had sparked the commotion with Spears, 41, and Asghari, 28.
“The disruptor wasn’t Britney — it was the diner who taunted her by taking a video without consent,” the staffer shared.
The employee then explained that Spears “was understandably upset” and that Asghari “only left briefly to get their car, but he did not storm out” as an eyewitness had originally claimed to TMZ.
When the story first began spreading, the “I’m a Slave 4 U” singer responded with a cryptic meme and a video of herself giving the middle finger.
Spears spent nearly 14 years under a conservatorship, which gave her now-estranged father, Jamie Spears, total control over her financial and medical affairs.
A judge ended the arrangement in November 2021, and Britney married Asghari at her Thousand Oaks, Calif., mansion six months later.
