Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson is issuing an apology after her so-called “f–king ghetto” accent in a recent TikTok was dubbed “racist.”
The reality star told her Instagram followers on Sunday that her video wasn’t “mean[t] to offend,” claiming she only wanted to clap back at people who “comment on how ghetto [her] speech is.”
After the “Toddlers & Tiaras” alum blamed her actions on “proving a point to the karens that love having an opinion on everything,” she went on to apologize.
“if in any way i did disrespect anyone i apologize,” the 17-year-old wrote on her Story over the weekend. “i never meant for it to come off like that.”
The “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star didn’t just spark backlash with the voice she used in the social media video earlier this month, but she was also called out for patting her head.

“in no way was I being rude or disrespectful by the head taps,” she claimed. “I [understand] that people use that method to relieve [an] itch when they have a hairstyle.
“I’m fully aware, I also love trying new wigs as well,” the teenager continued, noting that her lengthy statement marks the last time she “will speak on this topic.”
Thompson’s issued her response after a clip from her TikTok Live went viral, with many Twitter users comparing her voice to “Big Energy” rapper Latto — and expressing surprise that the video didn’t involve “lip syncing” or a “voiceover.”
One user wrote that the former TLC personality is in “her racist era.”
Another added, “with my eyes closed you couldn’t convince me that this isn’t a [black woman].”
Thompson has had a rocky month, as her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, was arrested in Georgia for allegedly driving under the influence.
The high school student was in the passenger seat of the 21-year-old’s Dodge Charger on February 28 when he was detained by police after a three-mile chase.
Carswell, who spent two days in jail on a bond of $25,000, has been dating Thompson since 2021.
Thompson spoke in July of the following year about her and Carswell being criticized online for their “age gap” and “because he’s Black and I’m white.”
The “Masked Singer” alum told Entertainment Tonight in a 2022 interview that she didn’t “really care” about trolls’ comments because she was “happy” with the college student.
She noted that their family members “approved” of their relationship.
