Whoopi Goldberg recently shared her gratitude for the weight-loss drug Mounjaro, revealing that she was 300 pounds and relied on the drug to jumpstart her metabolism after being on steroids following back surgery. The EGOT winner admitted that her weight has fluctuated over the years and that she did not prioritize it until she noticed it becoming an issue while promoting the 2022 movie “Till.”

Goldberg explained that while her weight has never been a problem for her due to ignoring what others say about her, she realized the severity of the situation when she couldn’t breathe and felt the weight she was carrying. She is not alone in using weight-loss drugs like Mounjaro and Ozempic, with celebrities such as Sunny Hostin, Elon Musk, Sharon Osbourne, and Amy Schumer also trying variations of tirzepatide or semaglutide. Oprah Winfrey even hosted a special discussing the benefits of these medications.

In addition to her weight-loss journey, Goldberg also discussed her upcoming memoir, “Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me,” which focuses on mourning her late family members. She shared that writing the book was a way for her to process her grief and remember memories about her mother and brother that she didn’t want to forget. Despite the loss of her family members, Goldberg emphasized that she is not ready to leave anytime soon and is grateful for the time they shared together.

The “Ghost” star attended the Gardens of Laughs gala at Madison Square Garden to raise funds for children in need, joining other stars such as Jon Stewart, Tracy Morgan, Edie Falco, Ben Stiller, Bill Burr, and Steve Schirripa. Goldberg’s openness about her weight-loss journey and personal struggles with loss highlights the importance of self-care and processing grief. As she continues to navigate these challenges, Goldberg remains grateful for the support of her friends, family, and fans.
