Aurelia Rose Parker, the 2-year-old daughter of late The Wanted singer Tom Parker, still believes her dad might come home someday.
“She does still talk about him every day and she doesn’t quite understand that he’s not coming back,” Tom’s wife, Kelsey Parker, said during her guest appearance on British talk show “Lorraine.”
“So I have to be really blunt [and] say, ‘He’s not coming back, that’s it. He’s dead and he’s not coming back,’” she added.
Tom died on March 30 at the age of 33 from terminal brain cancer, which he had been battling since his diagnosis in 2020.
According to Kelsey, Aurelia hasn’t fully grasped his death and believes he’ll return again – as he did when he was on tour with The Wanted.
“She’s a bit like, ‘Well, he’s been on tour, so is he gonna come back from this,’” Kelsey explained. “She’s just really confused by it.”
Kelsey was a guest on Tuesday’s “Lorraine” to promote the late singer’s memoir, “Hope: My Inspirational Life.” The book, which documents Tom’s legacy in his own words, was published nearly a month after his passing.
In a heartbreaking clip that aired during the talk show, Aurelia can be seen running to a bookstand and kissing and hugging the memoir, which features Tom’s face on the cover.
In addition to Aurelia, Tom also was dad to 1-year-old son Bodhi with Kelsey.
“They wake up happy. They wake up in a good mood, so I can’t be sad,” Kelsey said. “He wouldn’t want us to be sad and mourning.”
