Point Grey Pictures, owned by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver, has recently struck a first-look deal with Lionsgate Television. This news coincides with the start of production on the Apple TV+ series “The Studio,” a show set in a Hollywood movie studio where Rogen is set to star, as well as write, direct, and executive produce alongside Goldberg. The show also features Kathryn Hahn, Catherine O’Hara, and Bryan Cranston in its cast. Lionsgate Television Group chair Kevin Beggs praised the trio for their humor and creativity, citing their successful track record with projects such as “The Boys” and “Sausage Party.”

This collaboration between Point Grey and Lionsgate TV is not the first, as they previously worked together on the Peacock true-crime limited docuseries “Paul T. Goodman,” and entered into a multi-platform deal back in 2019. Rogen, Goldberg, and Weaver expressed their excitement to continue working with Lionsgate, praising their partners for supporting their creative vision and having relationships with platforms worldwide. The deal was negotiated by Ashley Morales on behalf of Lionsgate Television.

In addition to “The Studio,” Point Grey recently produced the animated film “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” with Rogen and Goldberg co-writing the script. They are also behind the successful Amazon Prime Video series “The Boys” and its spinoff “The Boys: Gen V,” with reports of another spinoff set in Mexico in the works. Past projects from Point Grey include shows like “Future Man,” “Black Monday,” and “Preacher,” as well as films like “Blockers,” “Good Boys,” “Neighbors,” and “Sausage Party.” The company also signed a first-look film deal with Universal Pictures in January.

Rogen, Goldberg, and Weaver are known for their subversive and humorous style, which has garnered them a strong following in the entertainment industry. Lionsgate Television Group chair Kevin Beggs praised them as trendsetters with their fingers on the pulse of what’s funny. Their upcoming projects, including “The Studio” and future spinoffs of “The Boys,” are highly anticipated. Lionsgate TV’s previous collaborations with Point Grey, such as “Paul T. Goodman,” have been successful, leading to the recent first-look deal. The trio expressed their enthusiasm for continuing to push creative boundaries with Lionsgate.

The first-look deal with Lionsgate Television is a significant milestone for Point Grey Pictures, signaling a continued partnership that has resulted in successful projects like “The Studio” and “Paul T. Goodman.” Rogen, Goldberg, and Weaver have established themselves as innovative and talented creators in the industry, with a string of hit shows and movies under their belt. Fans can look forward to more exciting and boundary-pushing content from this dynamic trio, as they continue to collaborate with Lionsgate TV on future projects.
