Loews Hotels & Co. today announced that Alex Tisch will be taking on the title of CEO, with the leadership change set to take effect on January 1, 2023. Alex will also continue serving in his capacity as the company’s president, a post to which he was appointed in September 2020.
In his new role, Alex will continue working closely with Jonathan Tisch, who will be stepping down as CEO, but will transition to the role of Executive Chairman, while also remaining a member of the Office of the President and a Co-Chairman of the Board for Loews Hotels & Co.’s parent company, Loews Corporation.
The shared surname is no coincidence. Jonathan is Alex’ first cousin, once removed, and represents the fourth generation of the family business. He has served as an officer at Loews since 1986.
As President & CEO, Alex is set to oversee the company’s day-to-day operations, as well as capital management, resource allocation, and the development and execution of Loews’ growth and expansion strategies.
“Loews Hotels & Co. has a storied reputation in the travel and tourism industry, rooted in partnerships, operational excellence and best-in-class team members,” said Alex Tisch, current President, Loews Hotels & Co. “My goal is to build on that reputation, leverage the owner/operator model, empower our world-class team members and create value for all stakeholders.”
Since joining the company in 2017, Alex has proven to be a key player in the conception and execution of Loews’ strategic plan, spearheading its $2.5 billion-dollar, re-defined growth and expansion scheme, and leveraging the hospitality company’s position as an owner, operator and developer of hotels.
“Since joining Loews Hotels & Co., Alex has not only brought a strong strategic lens to the acquisitions and development and commercial disciplines, but also cultivated successful strategic partnerships internally and externally,” said Jonathan Tisch, current Chairman & CEO, Loews Hotels & Co. “As we look ahead, under Alex’s leadership and direction, Loews Hotels & Co. will continue to be a leader within the industry and strive to be an employer of choice amongst our team members.”
Alex earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), The National Medal of Honor Museum, Moda Operandi and the New York City Police Foundation.
