Former “Saturday Night Live” star Chris Redd is “OK” after being sucker-punched last week.
The comedian updated his fans in an Instagram Story post over the weekend, saying he’s recovering and already looking to reschedule the shows he missed.
“I’ve been resting up like crazy but thank you thank you thank you for all the messages of love, the jokes, and the concern! I’m ok and healing fast!! Redd, 37, began his message.
“For any shows I missed, I’ll be putting back on the schedule so if you bought tickets SIT TIGHT AND I GOT YOU!!
“I’ll be back up talking some good s–t very soon!!!” he concluded.
The “Joker” actor later clarified that “nobody snatched” his chain.
Redd had been hanging outside the MacDougal Street club when one of two men, who seemed to have been waiting for him, approached him and slugged him “out of nowhere,” a source told Page Six exclusively.
“There was blood everywhere,” we’re told.
Redd was taken to Bellevue Hospital to treat his injury, which included two black eyes and a gash on his nose. He was released from the hospital after receiving urgent treatment from medics.
TMZ later reported the assailant struck the stand-up comedian with brass knuckles, which are illegal.
The NYPD later released a photo of Redd’s suspected attacker from surveillance footage and described him as between 35 and 40 years old, 6-foot-2 inches tall and about 280 pounds. In the clip, the alleged attacker is shown walking down the street in a blue jacket, blue shirt, black pants, a multicolored fedora hat and a black face mask.
Comedy sources told Page Six that the attack may have something to do with the fact that Redd is dating the estranged wife of his “SNL” co-star Kenan Thompson, Christina Evangeline.
